We left Bilbao on Saturday to Madrid,and there we took the plane to Kaunas, where the Lithuanian host families were waiting to welcome our students. After all the presentations, each student set off to their new home, ready to immerse themselves in the local customs and traditions.
While they enjoyed the first day of cultural immersion, the accompanying teachers set out to explore Kaunas' Old Town , a place full of history, and charming streeets and corners. The mobility just began, and the first impressions couldn' t be better.
Cultural Activities with Lithuanian Families.
Our students took part in activities with their Lithuanian host families, which helped them learn about local traditions, daily life, and culture. It was a warm and welcoming way to start enjoying their stay in Lithuania and embrace a new experience from the very beginning.
Our students enjoyed their first moments with their Lithuanian host families, who welcomed them with kindness and enthusiasm. This first contact was a key part of the experience, allowing students to feel at home, build connections, and begin discovering the Lithuanian way of life. Sharing meals, conversations, and local customs helped them step into a new culture with curiosity and excitement. It was the perfect start to a week full of learning, friendship, and unforgettable memories.
Ice-breaking Activities & Flash Mob Workshop.
All the Lithuanian and Latvian students as well as ours started the week with fun games to get to know each other and feel more comfortable. Then, they enjoyed a lively flash mob dancing workshop that brought lots of energy and smiles. A great way to begin our Erasmus experience.
School Tour for Teachers.
Two Lithuanian students guided us through the whole school from primary to secondary classrooms, including the Erasmus+ room and all the school facilities. It was a great opportunity to see how the school works and how students learn every day. We finished the tour with a nice lunch together with the Latvian teachers and all the students who joined the mobility.
Exploring Kaunas Old Town.
Teachers and students departed together to discover the beautiful Old Town of Kaunas. While the teachers enjoyed a guided tour through historical landmarks such as Kaunas City Hall, Vytautas Church, Kaunas Cathedral, Vilnius Street, and St. Gertrude Church, the students took part in an exciting orienteering competition around the city. After the activity, students returned to school.
Multicultural Immersion in Kaunas Old Town.
Our students as well as Lithuanian and Latian students visited Kaunas Old Town which was not only a cultural school trip but also an educational experience. While teachers explored historical landmarks through a guided tour, students took part in a fun and enriching orienteering activity designed to help them discover the city's history, architecture, and traditions. This multicultural immersion allowed students to learn in an active and engaging way, while also enjoying the atmosphere of one of Lithuania’s most beautiful cities. A perfect blend of learning, teamwork, and cultural discovery.
Departure to Vilnius capital of Lithuania and Trakai.
Students did a cultural tour through Vilnius, exploring some of its most iconic landmarks. Working in international teams, they visited the Gate of Dawn, Vilnius Cathedral, the Town Hall, Vilnius University which is one of the oldest universities in Europe, Cathedral Square, and the Presidential Palace.
During the tour, teams also enjoyed a short break.
This school trip is designed as a multicultural orientation activity, aimed at helping students discover the cultural, historical, and social heritage of Lithuania,(Vilnius) while strengthening teamwork and intercultural communication.
In mixed international groups, students explored the most important buildings in Vilnius through an interactive and collaborative city tour.
The activity encourages students to engage with their surroundings, look for information, share ideas and work together to complete tasks or answer questions related to each site.
Departure to Departure to Trakai. Self-Guided boat tour. Multicultural Discovery Activity.
In Trakai, students through a boat tour participated in a self-guided multicultural discovery activity aimed at exploring the town’s unique history, culture, and diversity. In international teams, they walked along the streets of Trakai and visited Trakai Island Castle, set in the middle of Lake Galve.
The visits to Vilnius and Trakai offered students a unique opportunity to engage with Lithuania’s rich cultural and historical heritage .
In Vilnius, students collaborated in international teams to uncover the city’s most emblematic landmarks. Not only did they learn about the city’s past but also hey srenghened bonds with Lithuanianand Lavian students.
In Trakai, students explored the medieval fortress.
Both experiences encouraged curiosity, cooperation, and cultural appreciation.
Sustainable Tour to Kaunas Santaka Stadium and Nemunas Island.
The sustainable tour to Kaunas Santaka Stadium (Kauno Santakos stadionas) and Nemunas Island offered students and teachers a rich, interdisciplinary experience that combined sports, culture, and sustainability.
The journey began with a bike ride from the school to the stadium, promoting eco-friendly transport and encouraging students to reflect on the importance of sustainable mobility in their daily lives.
Kaunas Santaka Stadion is located near the iconic confluence of the Neris and Nemunas rivers, the stadium provides a unique and scenic setting to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles. Participants engaged in friendly matches, team-building games, and open discussions on the role of sports in education and well-being.
This activity fostered not only environmental awareness and personal health, but also collaboration, inclusion, and the joy of learning outdoors.
Family Day .A Time to Connect.
As it was Labour Day, students had the opportunity to spend time with their host Lithuanian families. Some explored different parts of Lithuania, while others enjoyed a fun visit to the zoo.
It was a wonderful day for building connections, sharing experiences, and deepening the bonds between students and their host families.
Living with the hot families strengthen the cultural exchange of the project.

Our students as well as Lithuanian students and students from Latvia carried out three different workshops that promoted sustainability, cultural awareness, and shared European values.
"Wind + Solar Energy"
In this workshop, students explored the basics of renewable energy, focusing on the potential of wind and solar power. Through interactive activities, they learned how clean energy can support a more sustainable future.
Another workshop was : "Unity in Diversity: Celebrating European Values"
This workshop encouraged students to reflect on the values of Europe, including respect, inclusion, and diversity. Through collaborative tasks, they celebrated cultural differences and what it means to be united in diversity.
The last one was:
"My Ecological Footprint"
In this workshop, students examined their ecological footprint by analyzing their daily habits and environmental impact. They discussed practical steps to reduce their footprint and promote environmentally conscious living.
Our students as well as students from Lihuania took part in a mind battle, an exciting quiz competition focused on everything they had learned during the mobility.
In mixed international teams, they answered questions about Lithuanian culture, history, geography, traditions, and key moments from the activities and workshops they had participated in during the week.
The challenge encouraged collaboration, memory recall, and critical thinking, while also celebrating how much knowledge about Lithuania 's culture learnt during their time in Lithuania.
Awarding of Diplomas and Farewell Celebration.
The final evening was a memorable and emotional farewell celebration held at the school. The event began with the awarding of diplomas, recognizing each student’s participation and enthusiasm, throughout the mobility. Teachers and students reflected on the unforgettable week they had shared, filled with learning, cultural exchange, and friendship.
The celebration continued with a musical program that showcased the diverse talents of the participants, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere. One of the highlights of the evening was the dancing flash mob that the students prepared together since the beginning of the week.
To end the night, students enjoyed a fun disco party, where music and dancing brought everyone together. It was good to celebrate the friendships formed, strengthen bonds, and say goodbye to some students and see you in the Basque Country to others.
Once again, students spent their time with their Lithuanian host families, enjoying their hospitality and daily life. These moments allowed them to further strengthen their relations while continuing to discover the local culture in an authentic way.
Together with their host families, students visited various places around Lithuania, explored beautiful landscapes, and experienced traditions and activities that deepened their understanding of the country. It was a meaningful and heartwarming continuation of their intercultural journey.
